About the team

The Club Equestrian Team at UGA competes in Huntseat Equitation through the IHSA. All levels and disciplines of riding are welcome and no experience is necessary. 

All of our members compete in different levels from Walk/Trot to the Open division.  The team is also involved in community equestrian events throughout the Athens area and practices out of a private facility located about 25 minutes from campus.  The team consists of a competitive roster and a non-competitive roster.  Anyone who wants to be on the team is required to tryout and those who make it, will then be placed on either our competitive roster or non-competitive roster. Both of these rosters are combined for all team events such as team bonding, barn workdays, and community service events!

KB Sport Horses Equestrian Facility hosts the University of Georgia's IHSA Club Equestrian Team. Our team is part of the Club Sports Program at UGA and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA), where we are part of Zone 5, Region 2. We compete against Berry College, Auburn University, University of Alabama, Georgia Tech, Georgia College and State University, North Georgia College, Kennesaw State University, and many more!

This roster consists of about 14-15 people that are required to lesson twice a week.  In order to be on our competitive roster, rider must tryout in August and then be placed on this roster by our coach and our officers.  

Competitive Members:

- All offered clinics/scrimmages are mandatory

- Must be available for every horse show 

- Must fulfill team requirements 

- Must maintain good academic standing 

- Required to take 2 Lessons a week 

This roster consists of a varied number of members that will be required to lesson once every other week.  Our non-competitive members will also be given the opportunity for scheduled hack days if they would like any additional ride time.  These members are also required to tryout in August and then be placed on this roster by our coach and officer team.  These riders have the potential to get pulled to the competitive roster at any point.

Non-Competitive Members: 

- 2 Lessons per month 

- Scheduled hack days 

- Ability to be offered any additional ride spots 

    - Additional ride spots will be offered based on both ability and team dedication

- Must fulfill team requirements
